Thoughts on the petition to ban Eugenia Cooney from YouTube?

So I also grew up with an eating disorder... Binging.

I'm that "naturally thin" person that everyone called anorexic for majority of my life. I binged like no other in order to gain weigh. Because of my situation I'm usually good at knowing when someone is "lucky/unlucky" like myself as to whether they're naturally thin vs. truly anorexic. And sure she may have been born naturally thin, but there is no possible way that she is eating a proper diet and looking like that. She is neglecting her health, its a fact! I know what it's like to hate your body (I just happened to think I was too thin vs. majority thinking they're too fat). And having people judge your body is incredibly hard. Until you are happy with yourself, no ones opinion of you matters. I was always told that I was so lucky to be so skinny, but I wanted nothing more to gain 20 lbs. I have finally accepted my body, and have move passed my disorder of mass eating, but I had to do it on my own, not because other people told me to accept myself.. She needs peoples support, not criticism.

HOWEVER, if she ever encourages eating disorders (which I haven't seen her do) then yes, she deserves to be banned. Anyone ENCOURAGING self-harm, does not deserve to be monetized or even be allowed on a large platform. I 100% agree it's the parents responsibility to monitor their children's internet habits, and role models, but YouTube shouldn't condemn people promoting violence and self-harm.

I think it would be better to create a petition for her to go to rehab. Show her the love and support people have for her to get healthy. That would be more beneficial for her, her followers, and the YouTube community!

After hearing the story, I subscribed in protest. Yes, she may or may not need medical help (or she might already be receiving help that she doesn't want to discuss on camera, I don't know) but if YouTube is something she enjoys I don't think it's fair for people to judge is she should be doing it or not. If somebody looked hard enough I'm sure they could find unhealthy behaviours on every channel. It's awful that there are people potentially triggered by her content but I feel like it's outside of her responsibility to determine the reactions of others.

ETA: As far as I'm aware she's not encouraged unhealthy behaviours, my view changes if this is not true.

I've watched her for some time, she does have anorexia that is clear. however i think her subs are approaching it all wrong, it is unfair for people to call her names or tell her what to do with her life!

Imo there's no "legal" reason to ban her, even though it might serve greater purpose and could be a wake up call for her to look further into her condition.

Youtubers should take responsibility for their content and their influence on people, especially Youtubers who's viewers consists mainly from younger viewers.

I agree she is very thin, and should probably try to gain some weight. However to ban somebody simply for their body type is bull, and to say that she is responsible for others starving themselves is also bull. She is only responsible for herself. She can promote whatever she likes, it is up to the viewer on whether they follow it or not. No, sorry, she should not be banned. It's absurd.

i don't stand for censorship ever, and if she isn't explicitly breaking the community guidelines (which she isn't as far as i can see), banning her would be infringing on her rights. also, if a larger person who was large because of unhealthy eating behaviours was banned for their body because it was deemed "unhealthy", there would be outrage. why would one be okay but not the other?

i do hope she receives the help she needs (if, in fact, she does need help- it's really not fair to assume as youtube only shows a tiny portion of someone's life), but taking away her ability to post is completely ridiculous.
