Thoughts on the petition to ban Eugenia Cooney from YouTube?

Until she comes out as anorexic I don't think people should judge. I would suggest that she is incredibly thin. But could be any number of reasons why that might be. If she was going out of her way to tell her followers not to eat and diet to be like me, then that's a different story. but I haven't seen her do anything other than vlog about life. It's shocking how thin she is, but really it's no one's business but hers. if she's doing no wrong, leave her alone.

Imagine for a minute she was banned from youtube, what next? Will people want to ban the likes of boogie because he's overweight? Its ridiculous. People should take responsibility for themselves and if theit kids are being influenced by youtubers in a negative way, then parent them! #simple

They're not considering banning her because of her looks. No one has said that. It's that's the "looks" indicate something, something serious, an illness. Do you seriously not get that?
Calm down there buddy. I will admit I skimmed over all of the details. No need for whatever outburst you are having. In that case I still don't think someone should be banned over an illness. I think that is even worse than banning someone over their looks.

That is clearly anorexia, not even any reason to argue about it.
She should be allowed to do YouTube if she wants to. People should just choose not to get influenced.

What if she is just naturally that thin? What if she has some other medical condition that is causing her to be that thin, but doesn't want to disclose it? What business is it of ours or anyone else's what someone looks like? If people think that kids are being unduly influenced by her, then it's the responsibility of those kids' parents to better monitor their screen time.

I will be honest for a second here.

I was born with congenital heart defects. My heart works ten times harder which means I can't t maintain weight. I'm 29 years old and look like I should be in high school. When I was 12 I looked like I should of been in 2nd grade.

I'm exactly 98 pounds which is not very thrilling for my age. I have never gotten over 100 pounds at all. I'm working at that by eating more. So essentially rather than needing 2,000 calories a day like most men my age I need about 3,000 to actually maintain weight.

So what if Eugenia is the same way? Doesn't have an eating disorder and has a heart defect or some other condition?

I think it's silly to assume ones anorexic just because they look thin.

I think she may naturally be a thin person, but it looks like she has lost weight since her videos in 2013. I found it interesting that while she was talking about her weight in a video, she mentioned her doctor "thinks everything is fine," and was subconsciously shaking her head "no" while making the statement. That is sometimes an indication that a person is telling a lie, although not always. Her channel looks like it is focused around makeup, fashion, and likewise her body image, so her success is also somewhat tied to her weight. Changing her weight at this stage probably seems scary to her as it may change her success (in a possibly a good way, or possibly a bad way). To be honest, her weight, and why she is at her current weight, is really none of our business...

Losing weight could happen from a variety of things, not just anorexia. I dropped an awful lot of weight (somewhere between 35 - 45 lbs or so.. I'm not really sure how much I lost tbh, but I definitely became very underweight) before I figured out it was Celiac Disease. x_x It could be type-1 diabetes, some medication that she needs to take...It could be a lot of different things. It's not fun to be called an "anorexic bony twig," so I hope people stop commenting on her weight. It's not right to skinny-shame people, just like it's not right to fat-shame people.

She shouldn't be banned from YouTube because of her looks. YouTube wouldn't ban an overweight person for making fashion videos (actually...a lot of Americans would probably praise a channel for making overweight fashion videos...), so why should they ban an underweight person for making fashion videos?

She somewhat reminds me of Lizzie Velasquez -- a young woman who has a rare condition that prevents her from accumulating body fat. Some people are really slim and cannot help their appearance. Whatever the situation, her family and close friends would know more about whether or not her weight has drastically changed. I cannot decide from only looking at pictures that always show her as a very thin person. I would imagine that her family is aware of any issues that may be present, and that they are doing what they can to help and support her.

And society don't have a problem with people being influenced by Kim Kardashian needing her Butt to look big? Never heard anyone say "Let's make a petition banning Kim because she influences by daughter to get transplants" this is just silly.

I find this a very difficult issue and that is mainly that I like Eugenia as a youtuber when she just makes weird random video's and talks, it's something that I can enjoy and relax to. But when she is doing her fashion hauls I feel like I'm looking at something that I should not look at, it's almost a kind of voyeurisme that you don't agree to but you can't click away at the same time…..

I feel so constricted about this because her channel is not about her health and she avoids the subject, what I find a good thing in a way because I feel that is her privacy and although their may be something going on it's still her life and we as an audience have no right and idea. So does a person who we all think that has 'something' have the right to have a youtube channel in which she does not address a seeable illness for example. Should she not be enjoying the things that she does as fashion and makeup and so on. should she be restricted of these subject because we all are seeing someone who seems to be sick in our eyes.

I find it difficult because I agree in someway, I feel like she does show of her body and I understand that people can be triggered by that. But in my mind we have such a big world with people of all types from healthy to not and I feel like banning these people because of their appearance is not a right thing to do. Because the internet is here for all people even the ones that not everybody's desires and although that is difficult you have a choice in following them or not. It's only a click away and blocked.

I dunno what I feel I just know that I would never want my channel be taken from me if I where ill in any way when it brings me joy. Eugenia isn't promoting her 'illness' or whatever she just being a youtuber and I can't help but defend that although I understand all the concern.

Personally i think shes not the issue here yes she could lead others into becoming Anorexic but i dont think its that simple firstly if its young girls we are talking about here then its the parents responsibility to know what there kid is watching secondly if we start banning people for being thin should we also ban Boogie for being Obese? etc etc you can see how this mind set can spiral out. Whether she should or should not be banned (or if anything at all suspended banning is harsh for having anorexia) we should be focusing on criminals to take off the site not people suffering eating disorders.

Banning/Censoring her isn't going to do anything. She is thin if this petition did get her banned it would cause an uproar. Youtube might as well start banning people for everything else. That being said she does need help and younger girls looking up too her isn't exactly a good thing because of her mental illness.
