So I guess I'm a partner?

If I go to Dashboard -> Channel Settings -> Features, it says 'Partner | Verified'. I have monetization, videos over 15 minutes, custom thumbnails, external annotations, content ID appeals, the ability to scheduled videos, InVideo Programming. No watch page channel icon option, but I see they're phasing that out.

I'm not entirely sure when I got all these features. I joined YouTube in 2006, but only have 27 videos, 45 subscribers and about 88,000 views (not complaining, everyone starts small). I verified my account via an SMS and the Google account it's linked to is approved for AdSense (and AdWords too).

I read something the other day that in order to go from plain monetization to partner, I had to enable monetization on at least one video, so I did that on an older screencast I did, but nothing obvious on my account changed.

So other than the mega promotion that the major Top 100 partners get, am I missing out on anything else? Does someone need to approve that monetization for my first video, and maybe when that happens, I get anything else? Because otherwise, I want to turn off monetization on that one video, since I don't think I have the steady stream of content yet that I want any of my videos to have ads. I don't actually see an ad on the video I enabled it for, after 2 days.

This just means you are a half partner with YouTube. Anyone who monetizes videos is considered this. An actual partnership requires you to sign a contract with a business other than adsesnse.

You are missing out on the Banner that fits at the top of your YouTube channel, the ability to claim videos as yours, and your not getting paid per impression like with a full partnership.

Interesting. So that's when companies like Fullscreen and the likes come into play?

At this point, I'm not too concerned about making money off of my videos, nor do I think I have the kind of content that merits enhanced exposure. I mainly want to figure out my direction, fine tune my craft and use a couple of features like custom thumbnails and video scheduling e.g., which I have already.

So it sounds like I'm not really missing out on anything important right now, as far as features on the YouTube site goes?

a good gauge woul dbe to see if you can change your banner height to 150px :] under channel settings.

Correct. I am partnered with fullscreen.net. I get paid by them now, and not adsense.

You do not need to worry about partnering until you are definitely interested in making money. I would wait till you get around 1000 video views a day, and around 15 subs a day.

Just the banner and watch page icon pretty much. Also, you are missing out on the support teams of networks. If you make gaming videos, then legally you need to be with a network to monetize those videos. :)

@Bryant: If I click on the Channel Settings button when I visit my profile, all I see under the Appearance tab is the ability to upload a background image. No specific reference to a banner here. Guess that's a dead giveaway then.

@Frankie: Yeah, I saw that that's a big no-no, and frankly, I'm not even sure I want to enter the crowded space of Let's Plays or Minecraft tutorial videos. Will probably look for a slightly different niche.

I figure I'll apply for full partnership if I've been able to come up with 10 solid videos over the course of 2-3 months and they get some good views. Thanks for giving me a ballpark figure of what to look out for as far as traffic.

It's just confusing that it literally says 'Partner' in my account when I'm not fully.

@ConnersCraft: I was under the impression the watch page icon was being decommissioned. Is that not the case? Are there some concrete stats on how useful that thing actually is? Personally, I don't think I've ever used it on other people's videos.

Why do you need to be with a network to monetize those videos? Like if the game creator gives you permission, then there shouldn't be any problems right?
