Skip-able Ads

Most likely. The advertiser would pay a higher rate than shorter videos which have a higher chance of being watched.
Marginally, yes, but a 9 minute video isn't going to be hugely different than a 5 minute or a 15 minute.

Anyway watching 31 seconds of a 9 minute video pays the channel the same amount as watching the full 9 minutes.[DOUBLEPOST=1372376958,1372376863][/DOUBLEPOST]
Be thankful people view your ads.. 2013 the year of Adblock has killed any hope I had to make back my expenses via YouTube ;)
By the way... Global use of adblock % is well under 10%. In specific markets (some browsers and countries) it gets as high as about 12% but globally it is waaay low.

Unmonetizable mobile views are way more significant.

I'll believe it when I see the stats.
Maybe a old folks retirement website sees 10% adblock web usage.. Again, anyone can pull numbers out of nowhere.. Forgive me for doubting you, It's just that i've seen it first hand.

http://www.quora.com/What-is-the-pe...y-AdBlock-Plus-or-similar-ad-blocking-plugins 9.2% (global estimate)

Cheers.

So I took a look at your sources, hoping you could convince me that what i've seen in 10+ analytics accounts is false and just "bad luck".

First report was based "across several top-tier publishers in the US and Europe" i'm sure we can both agree no audience on here even comes close to matching "top-tier publishers" (older, less techy people) and that anonymous post you quoted was written over 1 year ago.

Not to mention most people view news articles on tablets and smartphones, thus why less adblock. A year ago that anonymous post mentioned some websites have adblock rates higher than 50%, why did you neglect to mention that part?

Second report was hilarious, you must not have read it.. It's source for "entire US adblock percentage" was based on ONE FIREFOX ADDON.. it didn't include Chrome, or the other 10 adblock extensions for firefox. This was also written in 2012.

Cheers?

I've read those exact same number elsewhere, those were the sources I was able to find again when you asked. Why don't you do your own googling and tell me what you find?

Because real life experience trumps whatever random article you can pull out of google. Well, you clearly can't even do that!
Point in case, i'm right in my mind until you prove me otherwise!
Don't forget, YOU called ME out and I shut YOUR sources down.. I have nothing to prove :)

PS: There is no way to know the exact percentages, think about how it could be done and get back to me. You could take the largest websites data and it wouldn't equate to jack-s**t, it would be like using demographic stats between Iraq and Norway -- irrelevant on the global scale.

PPS: There is no way for a webmaster (prove me wrong, because i'd like to know) to see who is using "adblock" as each of the extensions go about it in different ways.. and there are dozens of ways to "adblock" and the biggest ones won't even load the media in the first place.

Also.. Are you trolling? You have access to your estimated earnings tab right? Why can't you figure this out for yourself, you have more data to work with than I do!

I have an adblocker, and it blocks YouTube ads too ^_^ I feel like my entire life quality improved by .5% XD BTW, those ads are annoying. I want to watch a video, not an ad. :3

You didn't 'shut down' anything. You insulted/disregarded the sources I bothered linking.

You on the other hand haven't proven jack-sh*t. You've just said utterly ridiculous statements like "Point in case, i'm right in my mind until you prove me otherwise!"

As for YouTube analytics, I do have an itty-bit more data than you. And researched this topic extensively. And all sources agree: the major reason for lower monetization % is due to platforms being unmonetized rather than adblocker use.

Point and case: Mobile views have been going up over the last few years. It is not uncommon to find channels with over 60% mobile views. Mine is one of them. Ad blocker doesn't exist on mobile to any significant degree. Yet, my monetized views are still <35%.

If you want to insist that 65%+ of my viewers are using adblocker on a platform it barely exists on, then I'm going to not waste my time trying to talk intelligently to you and you can go back to eating rocks on the playground or sniffing glue or whatever you do in your free time.

a) You insulted/disregarded the sources I bothered linking.
They were over a year old.. lol

b) Your "Point and Case" is hilarious
Google Chromes "Adblock Plus" views all show as MOBILE in analytics because the extension loads the video DIRECTLY.. This proves how absolutely clueless you are, you honestly thought 60% of your viewers watched you on their iphone? Smarten up.

... My channel is dedicated to an iOS game.

Google analytics for my channel homepage and website concur - majority are mobile.

Adblock isn't a new revolution within the last year. It has been a significant for several years. Google trends shows steady search volume for it from 2007 to 2011. Even now search volumes are only double that time range - if double the 'outdated' year old stats, then they are still well below 50-70% mobile views many channels experience.

I'm still waiting you you to cite ANYTHING.
