Skip-able Ads

I Love YTtalk
At a 2013 Online Video Advertising Summit, it was reported that 80-85% of skip-able in-stream ads are being skipped.

I'm not sure if that includes YouTube or if that is non-YouTube data.

I know that people are getting frustrated with YouTube's TrueView advertising. Rarely do people want to sit through TrueView Ads. I often see THREE MINUTE ads being offered. If people get accustomed to clicking the skip button because there are too many long ads, they probably skip the 15 second ones too because they are trained to skip them.

I stopped using TrueView ads a couple weeks ago. I allow the overlay in-video ads (banners) but if I'm want an instream ad to run, it will be standard. I do not allow TrueView.

What's your thoughts on not using the TrueView option?

I never used it when I had a partnership. I used the banners, but never the pre roll, mid roll or post roll ads. They just annoy people and very few get away with it; for anyone with less subs than about 10k, you're just going to p**s people off.

I use them because they give the option to skip. I never use the standard ones because I think they'll drive viewers away from the video because I'm a pretty small channel.

I use TrueView so viewers can skip the ad. Standard earn more but the ads may put viewers off and skip the video entirely. It's better left for the big YouTubers.

I use skipable prerolls and banners. Im against non skipable ones, but i feel its ok to have skipable prerolls as long as i see on my stats that i earn from skipable prerolls more than from banners - this probably should tell that not vast majority of them are skipped.

For me personally skipable banners (im talking about banners on video overlay, not on side panel) are not that much less annoying thing than skipable prerolls.
But if i would really care too much about my subs and channel attractiveness, i probably would leave only side panel ad, which is the most innocent :)

I think True View is pretty darn good. The right compromise between high paying/high quality ads and not annoying users too much.

You get paid if they watch the entire thing without skipping or 30 seconds, whichever comes sooner, I believe.

And the longer the true view ads the higher the cpm maybe?
Cause I once watched a 9min true view ad just to help the creator

I hate all ads. That's probably the one reason I wouldn't want to have any partnerships. All I see is ads everywhere, and it's very annoying. v_V
