Roughly how many views per month would I need to make $100,000 a year on youtube?

For example, how much does theRadBrad gets about 50,000,000 views a month, how much would he be making?

I think the calculation would be something like this:

50,000,000 views total @ $5 CPM, 50,000,000 divided by 1000 = 50000 x $5 = $250000 minus 45% for YouTube = $112500 to YouTube leaves $137500 but that's without paying taxes on it and without any network cuts if you are with one.

I am probably missing something here too :D @Tarmack will likely know the exact maths for this.

I believe you would also have to take into account how many views actually were considered as actual clicks which creates the rev. and @VenomRaptor careful with socialblade because a lot of the times the numbers are off

As a rule of thumb, assume an RPM of $1 per total thousand views. (That's probably a bit too conservative, but it's a good starting point.)

So to earn $100k in a year you need:

100,000 x 1000 views in a year = 100 million views

Per month, that is 8.3 million views per month

Per day, that is 274,000 views per day

In case anyone was wondering about those social blade estimates.

They really aren't something that I would base any sort of accurate earning calculation off of.

I usually estimate with slightly different numbers. Rough $8 CPM and 50% monetized views. So, 50,000,000 divide by 2 for 50% monetized views give 25,000,000, divide by 1000 for CPM conversion leaves 25,000 multiplied by $8 CPM for gross revenue of $200,000 and leaving $110,000 after the YouTube split of 45/55. Now all of that said, RadBrad will have a much better than normal YouTube contract. He probably has a higher ad fill rate than 50% as well as 100% rev share to a point, or 100% rev share all across while only giving up a percentage of brand integrations. So he's a bad comparison to use, as are all 1M+ sub count channels.

There isn't a way of estimating that is really any more accurate than this simply because of the contract variations out there. So giving an estimate of how many views one would need to make $100K a year is difficult. If I regress the same above estimate calculation and we assume that the channel is not going to be networked, then in order to make $100K a year, you would need around 45 million views in a 12 month period which translates into 3.7 million views a month or 874K views per week.

Please don't quote me as these are all amazingly vague estimates.
