No Intro's On Youtube Videos

We have a 10ish second intro, we're a vlog channel and it's just cute moments kind of introducing us before the video. We've gotten a lot of compliments on ours! And notice our retention is plenty past our intro.

This is how I look at it - When people click on your video, they have made a conscious decision that they want to watch your video based on 2 things: 1)The title and 2)The thumbnail - Whatever your title and thumbnail says - That is what they want to see and hear. Any content that does not correspond to the title or thumbnail will be considered as fluff.

YouTubers are very impatient. Look at all the people who complain about 15 seconds of advertising before an ad. 15 seconds!

Keep an eye on that retention as your subscription base grows.

My aim here is that I will be putting an outro at the end of my video. Eventually it may become my intro, when I feel like putting a 3sec intro might be ok, but not before having a hook or a quick way to grab the attention. At least this makes it so I have a branding already established (even though most people probably won't stay until the very end)

I usually just flash my logo up or if its judith and betty videos then I have a 2-3 second intro then jump straight into it. As its all improvised comedy and neither of us know what we will say or do, I cut out any quiet moments if its not needed or any boring parts. Anything I feel is important happening in the game or what we are saying I leave in. I also like when editing to pick out our flaws and highlight any moments where we are trying not to laugh or break out of character haha

I don't really like intro's! Usually as "intro" I grab a funny moment of that video, and after that I just start with talking and stuff. ;)

I don't like animated intro's to music. They were fine before as branding but now I just don't like them, esp if they are longer then 5sec. I'll skip them or just choose a different persons video if it's to long. Plus people know what your channel is called unless if you're intro is showing a different name then your channel name, you're already causing a mess of confusion.

If you have a video series and do a "previously on" type intro or something, I'm down for that. It's just those generic animated intro's people use just because other people use them that I don't like.

So I obviously don't have an animated intro for my video's but at the beginning of each video I say "knight zero back with another episode of _____ " which takes a second to do.

Youtube videos are by nature very ADHD and the average youtuber has a very short attention span. Plus, most intros look very cheesy. If you have one I suggest nothing longer than 3-4 seconds. My videos have a title which flashes for about that amount of time in the beginning, but this title is informative and slightly expands on the video's title.
