Networks better than adsense?

I'm always surprised with how people seem to think networks are better than adsense, and are lured by highe revenue shares. Yet in my experience, my CPM from adsense is far higher that what most people report earning from a network. The only thing that would entice me would be an increased monetization percentage (percent of views that are monetizable, not using mobile/ad block). However, there is no way to control that.
I've been saying this for so long now, with Adsense alone I get CPM values way above what any network has offered me.

It just means you get above average CPMs, a network can only give you their averages (which will be pulled down by non-english channels, gamers etc) they can't just pluck a cpm value out of the sky :p[DOUBLEPOST=1382786555,1382786528][/DOUBLEPOST]
I second this. AdSense earnings were WAYYYYYYYYYYYY higher than Fullscreen.
That's because fullscreen is taking a cut

In comparison to AdSense, Fullscreen must take a pie and a half type of cut, it's like comparing a lawyer's salary to Chinese labor.

Google actually takes a bigger cut, *but* with their CPMs being really high, it still works out better. I might only get 55% of the earnings by using AdSense, but I'm seeing $32-$47 CPMs, which is far and beyond the $3 - 10 CPMs I've been offered by networks. Even a 90% share isn't going to make up for that massive difference.

Networks take a cut ontop of Google's cut.

the 3-10$ you've been offered are averages..
MCNs can only give their average, that number is pulled down from foreign channels, channels with short videos and gamers.
Good on you for having a high CPM yourself, but MCNs can only state their average, they can't pluck a CPM figure out of the sky...
If you have a 30-40$ CPM with adsense you'll likely have a higher one with a network!"=

I know some networks that only offer a fixed CPM (which negates the "average" you are fond of quoting). Beyond that, where do you get this info from? Do you work for a network? Why are you so "pro-network"? Personally I see no benefit to joining a network.

You see no benefit because you're not reading any of the information we're providing you with an open mind. There are currently no networks I'm aware of that offer fixed CPM for small channels like yours. Some networks offer a fixed CPM for the first X number of views and variable after, but those offers are generally for channels in the 50,000-100,000 sub and above range. If you have information relating to specific networks offering a fixed CPM, we'd love to hear it because the few fixed CPM networks went the way of the dodo for small channels about 6-12 months ago.

Did you bother to read my treatise on CPM and how it's derived primarily from the viewer, not the channel? How the base that ALL networks use is Adwords/Adsense with the additional posting of whatever higher paid ads they sell themselves? The vast majority of channels on YouTube get CPM rates in and below the average numbers most networks display, which is why it is appealing to them. But a channel already getting a $30-$47 CPM like you're claiming, wouldn't see a drop in CPM down to the $3-$10 because the CPM is based primarily on the audience viewing your videos through the Adsense/Adwords base anyways.

Now, that said, I'd love to see a screenshot of your average CPM over the last 30 days. I have my doubts you're actually getting $30-$47 on average as that is quite an exceptional range and is also ridiculously high for ANY YouTube channel. More likely, you're seeing occasional days where the CPM spikes high, which every single channel on YouTube gets. I've seen $150 CPM before, but that doesn't mean that the channel actually averages that kind of CPM over the long term. It is also worth noting that the smaller the number of views on a channel, the wider the visible range of spikes will be due to the law of averages.

People don't have to work for a network in order to try to correct some of the misinformation being spread on forums about how CPM and online advertising works. You do not appear to understand how it works, which is why there is an attempt to educate occuring here.

Fixed CPMs are actually good for the most part, with the MCN I work for, all the biggest channels (10-30M views monthly) want fixed or quota based cpms rather than revshares)

For the most part though, pretty much all MCNs will only offer smaller channels such as yourself a non-fixed CPM with a 50-90% revshare contract.

Based on my findings (FYI, I'm a web analyst and I've been diving pretty deep into my analytics lately), and yes audience is a component, but so is the type of content/meta data we put up in the first place. I see very different ads on my main channel (Kleineganz) than I do on my second channel (EndressAnalytics). I'm the same person, with the same Google profile and they give me the same "recommended for you" videos - so then the only reason I would see different ads is because the content/meta data is different.

Also you want screenshots of my CPM? Fine here, you go. My channels (and earnings) may be small, but I'm pretty happy with my CPMs right now.
