My one BIG tip!!

I would say that the video length depends on the person creating it. Because you can make a video that's under five minutes and have it not be entertaining at all or vice versa. It is good to start out making short videos till your audience wants you to make them longer.
 
Great tip! I really don't have the patience for long videos. Even when I'm a fan I sometimes have to skip through, or say I'll finish later(never happens). 5 mins is perfect, but if its good information I can sit through 10.
 
This is an excellent tip, especially since YouTube started factoring audience retention into the search ranking. A shorter video will always have a better retention score.
I run a weekly or more series where every video is less than 3 minutes. It does alright.
