My first video was refused monetization

I took a look at your video. The videos that you used and linked to in the description are not covered under creative commons-they all have the standard youtube license. That's causing your issue.
The first video I used was reviewed by a Spanish vlogger and it was monetized:
Code:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUsSYxilAac
The second one is from America's funniest videos, and a lot of people have reviewed it. I think even Ray William Johnson in one episode.

So, just to clarify this for myself: If I joined a network that catered to comedians (like YDL, for example), could they give me rights to monetize viral videos reviews like this first episode I made?

Just because someone else monetized it, that doesn't make it OK for you to use. They could have received permission, or it's also possible the ad run on the video isn't theirs and is there because their video got claimed.

A network cannot help you with what you want to do. When your channel grows larger, you might be able to work something out with the video owners, but when you're starting out, it's unlikely they will give you the rights unless you're willing to pay for it.
