As someone who always feels like I'm behind the curve when it comes to trending topics, this is awesome info! Applying it, on the other hand, will be the more tricky part. I think being more connected to the internet to watch the trends change plays a big role, and that's something hard to get on top of when you're not logged into twitter, etc. long enough throughout the day.
