How many tags is too many tags for youtube?

When you're trying to balance between tagging your videos appropriately for maximum views and also trying to not get axed by youtube for spamming .....how do you balance these concerns? I've been putting 10 tags but I think its not enough. Any thoughts?

I max out our tags on every video except old ones that are proven winners. Although I think the title is even more important than tags (that's just my belief, I have no evidence not knowing the algorithm).

I just use the maximum amount allowed on Youtube. Just make sure they're relevant to your topic.

I heard Youtube is flagging accounts for excessive tagging so I try not too use the max.

Max out your tags. As long as it's related to your video it shouldn't matter.

500 characters i believe is the Max you can do. JUST NEVER put tags in your description in a list as that can get you in trouble with your channel.

How can tags get you in trouble on YouTube????

Its not clear whether you mean tagging the description box or the tagging box.
As some people so max out the tagging box then add further tagging in the description field.
Don't tag in the description field (Just your nice description) and by all means max out in the tag section. I rarely max it out. I just add the relevant tags in various sentencing ways + 1 word / 2 word / 3 word relevant tags.
