Are Networks ruining YouTube?

Yes even with low requirements but I don't think it will matter soon as I believe Google's goal is so everyone will be a partner on the same level as legacy and network partners all the same features even those who just monetize - in the soon future.

Whys it in Googles interest to do that? They still take there 55% cut regardless? Also surely people would still go to networks that offer Higher CPM's than adsense

bad times ahead lol no differences other than content quality between the dedicated and the get-righ-quick'ers xD
They were wrong about 2012 being the end of the worth - It's this year :D

I have no idea but they stated at Vidcon (I think) that they were pushing to make the newer partners have access to the features legacy partners have and you can see already, you can use custom thumbnails, scheduled uploads etc.

I don't see the downside to partnership losing it's shine. A channel just starting out hoping for that big break, their content will be found if it's good whether they're a partner or not. If they're crap, their content will be buried on page 50+ and no one is the wiser. It's only community forums that see the endless stream of "am I good enough to partner" people.

Yeah I can see them doing that but I honestly don't see that deterring THAT many people from going with a network, its still a "cool" thing to do in many peoples eyes to be at a network, a lot of people seem to see it as the promised land :p[DOUBLEPOST=1365119547,1365119488][/DOUBLEPOST]

RPM's is terrible for that

I'm confused - why does it matter? At all? If networks can make some money, and people are foolish to sign up with a bad contract - that's on them.

You could say they're "ruining" the potential earnings of naïve creators, sure.

But I don't see how this negatively affects your own experience on YouTube. I just don't get it.

Unless it's just a matter of "I'm personally mad that now everyone gets a trophy". Which I would think means you valued partnership too much in the first place.

I don't think so. I think it's kinda sad though that a channel with no subs or views can get partnered. I guess its our video content that defines us now. Which isn't a bad thing but it was still cool at one time being singled out in a good way because we partners had a banner above our videos and another big one on our channel homepages.

So are partner networks ruining YouTube by providing a bad/no service in return for getting a share - all revenue made by that channel? and they amount of channels un-worthy of partnership that can get it now?

We are not the ones who should be determining who should and should not be part of any networks or who is worthy of partnerships. I don't understand why some creators feel like there needs to be some high and mighty reason to cause a class separation of network partners/non-partners.

What Shaun is trying to say is; there was a time when YouTube was all just for fun, and entertainment. A lot of these YouTubers have gotten the opportunity to make a living off YouTube, and earn some serious cash-which is really great for them. Now, since the opportunity to make money has been opened to almost everyone, everyone wants to earn money like them, or get to that level. There is also a loss of quality and genuine good videos at times. Small channels everywhere keep trying to get partnerships or aboard this "YouTube Money Making" train, if you may, thinking that they will be earning a lot of money. In reality, you won't be unless you are a growing channel and your goals aren't solely based on money. I got a partnership because I have enjoyed being on YouTube, and wanted to start a good quality gaming channel, and eventually get the awesome partner features that that website has to offer. (Now YouTube is opening a lot of these features to non-partners.)

More and more networks are opening their doors to smaller YouTubers, at such an early age...too early. All of this commotion about networks and partnerships can be a little crazy. People message me about partnerships and they only have a few hundred views, or less than 100 subs. People should build up their channels first, and then get into those whole "partnership situation" in my opinion. That way they are actually working to put in a lot of effort into their videos, so they can get genuine followers/viewers. :p

Its not rewarding no more. People can get partnership with no work. Thats what pisses me off. Networks don't give two s***s as long as they are raking in money from them.

What this dude said is so true. For the people who tried really hard, and eventually got a partnership, now almost everyone can get in. Even networks like "AwesomenessTV" I heard are starting to give out partnerships with no requirements. Why? The answer is money. Unfortunately, that's how much of the world, internet, and definitely Google, runs. :p
