Are Networks ruining YouTube?

Networks and GFX Expert :)
So...
I think it`s fair to say there is too many networks (like 100s, maybe 1000s), then there`s a few accepting people with no requirements and I personally think this is ruining YouTube.

So many people are just in it for the money, you can see it from the people coming on here saying "I get 5 views daily, can I get partnered, I`m going to be a millionaire" :p

It`s not even the fact that there`s an over abundance of networks as much as, quite a few of them quite frankly accept smaller (or even bigger) channels clearly just to exploit them for money aswell as a good percentage being very helpful on the sign-on stage and then when the channels are in the network just basically ignoring them...

ATV, DM and now RPM. Have ruined the whole goal of partnership, because they saw some dollar signs in it..

Instead of in 2010 there may have been a list of a few bad networks, there`s now only a very short list of good networks (in my opinion) that actually care about their partners.

And then YouTube don`t seem to give a toss and just sit back and watch the money roll into their bank account.

Does anyone else miss the time when only like channels with 5k+ views daily had partnership and everyone was just in this for fun ;)
And there wasn`t 100s of networks trying to use partners for money instead if actually helping them out.

So are partner networks ruining YouTube by providing a bad/no service in return for getting a share - all revenue made by that channel? and they amount of channels un-worthy of partnership that can get it now?

Yeah I hear you I personally do youtube for fun wouldn't mind being able to sustain living status of doing what I love instead of being a cashier at a crappy job. But there are alot of people that think its a get rich quick which it isn't its alot of work and time.

Yes even with low requirements but I don't think it will matter soon as I believe Google's goal is so everyone will be a partner on the same level as legacy and network partners all the same features even those who just monetize - in the soon future.

Really good thread, I think more and more networks are going to start doing what RPM/ATV are doing to try and compete with each other which is very unfortunate. I think people are to blame as well, people go into these lock in contracts head first without reading them properly.

They better not :p then my network would be done for :(

bad times ahead lol no differences other than content quality between the dedicated and the get-righ-quick'ers xD

Networks that have lower requirements ruin the overall YouTube experience. You have nothing to work to. However networks that have requirements usually have more to offer and a better exchange. Those higher networks give you something to work for, an actual job.

more like does anyone miss when you could get partnered through youtube ONLY.Networks in general just ruined everything because lots of youtubers (who really dont even have talent) can make a good bit of money from youtube(more of the smaller networks in particular) but i really dont like the bigger ones either.

No, networks are not ruining YouTube. Content creators should do their homework before joining one. As for those people monetizing videos that will ultimately get only 100 or 500 views, they should do the math and realize that for all of their time and effort, they are making pennies per hour. If one is making videos for fun, then just make them for fun and build an audience/subscriber base first. Of course, those making gaming videos may need to be part of a network for licensing sake.
