Am i the only one not trying to join a network/partnership

It seems that everyone is applying for networks and partnerships etc etc, i haven't applied for any and my channel is small anyway. I just don't understand why people want to get into contracts and stuff, specially at an early stage of your channel ?

Everyone keeps telling me about having music you can use for videos, earning more money etc etc

But what do they actually do for you ?

i would happily join a network in an instant if i knew they would promote me in someway or actually give me a platform to put my content out to a bigger audience but they only seem to do that with their biggest channels

please let me know if h ave got this all wrong

I didnt apply to any network. I only received a couple of offers by the network. The last offer that I received seemed pretty legit so I accepted it.

What it does: - protects you against click bombing
- for me i think it will help me make more money cause now i have the option to monetize only the video or only the audio. So if i make a cover i can monetize the video.
- extra support and assistance is always helpful

It's usually not good to partner very early as you may get into a bad network

I just don't see what a network will do for a channel just starting out that the person cant just do for themselves, its like they sign people up to take a cut of stuff they make so in the chance of any of them blowing up into the big leagues the network can make a bunch of money[DOUBLEPOST=1370383881,1370383766][/DOUBLEPOST]

So does that mean you can use copyrighted audio and just monetize the video ? like use any music you want ?

And ive received 5 different ones now and ive just been ignoring them but i am tempted to just make a tutorial video on how to get rid of networks spamming your inbox and just trolling them
 
No you are not the only one. I really made a mistake when I joined. It's not that I've had a bad experience. It's just that I was a noob back then and didnt realise that you didnt really needed to join a network to get all the stuff like custom thumbnails etc.

I signed a one year deal with RPM and it probably wont hurt me but in one year from now my channel probably will have grown a lot and I might need a network. How knows?

Edit: Why I think so many are joining a network atm is that thet are as I was very un-educated with YouTube. Just a week here on YTtalk as tought me sooo much that I didnt know before.

I don't think its a good idea to troll networks cause eventually, you will want to be in one.

And yes I think so.

The thought of being able to use copyrighted music is quite a decent incentive, and with the amount of networks about these days i could probably p**s off 90 percent of them and still get signed up to one 2 months down the line

Obviously protection from click bombing is good, but i dont monetize my videos and dont really plan to until i have a fairly large audience. By the time i get to that point i probably will be looking at joining at network because im talking about the sort of size where a lot of people want to collab and i would like to have certain connections
 
I joined to meet other vloggers so I can collab with people and music, I didn't join for anything else, I don't care about money at this stage. if your small you won't make much anyway so they taking barely anything. By time you really get big your contract will probably run out then or around that time then you can sign to a network properly. That's my look on it anyway
