2000 subs overnight!

I want to teleport into your house to do a high five haha. :)

I use the Samson Q2U as well and always tell others to check it out. If you search on YouTube you will see I have did some reviews and audio tests of it online. I have used it for a few years but picked up the Blue Yeti a few months ago to record audio for game streams on the PS4. People have been talking about how good the Blue Yeti is for years, but my first impression of it in similar scenarios was disappointment. It picks up way too much background noise. I paid £100 for it instead of the £40 I paid for the Samson Q2U so I was surprised at that. Not saying the Yeti is a bad mic. I think the Samson Q2U has just spoiled me on what I expect from microphones.

I'm surprised the audio was so good using the smartlav and iphone. I have a lav for my phones and some high quality mics for my audio recorders too. I will need to do some more tests and see how they perform against the built in mics of my recorder.

Hahaha. Well make sure you record the teleportation, that's going to be a viral video for sure :)

Yes I agree with you completely. I actually also have a Yeti, but it's in storage as I don't use it anymore. I bought it based on rave reviews and it is probably the best consumer level microphone, but it needs to be in a proper studio to really perform. The recordings were crisp and clear, but you could also hear my neighbour's kids and dog in all my recordings. So yes, the Yeti would beat the Q2U in a proper sound-tight studio, but man, in real life the Q2U wins hands down.

I think what also helps the Smartlav is the Rode app doesn't allow the sound to blow out, unlike the inbuilt audio app of the iPhone which allows the peaks to blow out and sound clipped.

The main problem with the Yeti is it is too sensitive. You can't put it on a table with a computer on it as it will pick up vibrations. You can't put it close to a computer anyways or it will pick up buzzing. I have seen lots of people online saying that you can work around lots of these issues, but I have not been able to do it. It works well with my PS4 game streaming so I won't be sending it back. If I had bought it to do record via my computers, I would have sent it back immediately.

im glad your alive! if I woke up to that news, I would have died!

congrats!!!! and its a good channel btw
