Zoom H1 Or Rode Video Mic Pro?

Don't plan on using the H1 as a mic - it's a recording device (it has a mic attachment, but it's not particularly good). You'd want to use the H1 in conjunction with, say, a lav mic. So budget for that.


Oh, I was assuming that's what he was doing, but yeah.
 
If you can wait about a month, you may want to consider one of the new Shure shotgun mics.

The first is Shure's version of Rode's Videomic pro but with a Rycote Lyre mount instead of the rubber bands. Has -10, 0 and +20db settings. Priced at $229.
