Instantly recognisable to millions of teenagers not just in Britain but around the world, Sugg is at the forefront of a new generation of YouTube stars, broadcasting daily ‘video blogs’ into children’s bedrooms and on to their iPhones.

As Britain’s teenagers already know, of course, his sister, Zoe Sugg – or Zoella – is a celebrated ‘vlogger’, too, and a millionaire in her own right.

With their ceaseless posts and never-ending stream of clips – of everything from them brushing their teeth to driving fast cars – the Suggs have already conquered the internet. No wonder friends say they hope to become the British Kardashians. So just how did Joe Sugg, an ordinary young man from an entirely unremarkable family in southern England, become one of the most powerful celebrities in the country?

Thoughts? :)

I thought Joe, Zoe, and Alfie's channels had kind of stagnated... :o I mean, they're far far bigger and more successful than mine, but they sort of plateaued with growth, and I think Zoe stopped posting on her main channel, most likely from all her recent product backlash... :o

I don't follow them that closely -- I only occasionally click on their channel to see what's up, and to feel a little more motivated about the potential of YouTube lol. ^^ I think Joe is smart to try to break into other stuff besides YouTube. I think they all could make a YouTube comeback, but all their money has made them not very relatable to their audience anymore -- I think they'd either need to find a way to join the other millionaires in mainstream media, or find a way to be relatable again for their YouTube audiences... :o I'd imagine Pewdiepie also lives on another wavelength as far as money goes, but he's still relatable with his commentary and simple filming setup, so I know it's possible!

But I tend to think the bigger success lies in mainstream media. I hope things work out for them -- I think it's amazing that "normal people" can become so successful with the Internet!

I think they're maybe running out of ideas for videos. It must be tough being a creator when your target audience is kids because as the years go by, the kids grow up and move on (and are replaced by other kids) but the creator is still there, a few years older so the age gap gets bigger and bigger every year which must feel a bit weird. ^^
