YouTube's new updates to comments section are actually good

I Love YTtalk
I have to say it's a surprise they actually updated it and better than I expected from them:

You can now order your comments by 'Highlights only' or 'All comments' and on the right you can now filter the comments specifically by video or the discussion section, which is something that should have been added day 1 when they created this inconvenient section.

You can also select what counts as highlights to you:

Which is great as it has an option for "Comments from highly engaged fans" & "comments from subscribers" which are probably 2 of the most important comment categories you can get on your videos. The 'popular comments' is also good as it gives you the opportunity to jump into more enganging conversations with viewers. The comments from channels with more than x subs is okay too. This naturally benefits bigger YouTubers or people who get around 100-500+ comments per video, but it's great to have it there.

I'm not holding my breath though, I suspect Google is going to find a way to f**k this 1 up really quick. Considering the "add to playlist" button in the edit menu was 1 of the most convenient features in the edit menu yet, but they removed the number of videos displayed in each playlist in the drop down menu for some really odd reason, which has made it an inconvenient and near redudant feature now for obvious reasons lol

Yes! Just showed up on my panel last night and I love it! Great way to get a quick view of comments from bigger sized fans and I love that you can tweak what that means. Fans with 5000 subs , 10,000 etc.

Yeah, I'm sort of on the fence with that sub thing. I might turn it off eventually and turn it back on, not sure. I feel like it's sort of pushing aside real supporters, most of which are normally just viewers and not content creators themselves. On the otherhand I don't get many comments from people with 500+ subs anyways and when I do it's usually a transparent advertisment or lure attempt lol

I just hope these changes will not go on the quality of what the site is all about... Videos, but it is Google, so I guess they will do it right, even though Google+ is a pain in the a**e :P
