That just can't be true.! some of the biggest channels on youtube are gaming.! That'd take away a lot of their income...

Where have you heard this? I read in a few threads about some videos being taken down but no ones why/what was wrong with the videos specifically. I would assume YouTube would make a public statement about it if it was true. Which I can almost guarantee it isn't.

Their was a mishap with some Content ID algorithms a while back, but no, what you heard was false.
