YouTube's decision not to interfere with networks & partners doesn't make sense

As for the claim that networks spam content ID with fake claims, that is definitely an issue for the legal system and YouTube to get involved with.

I think by and large, the ContentID thing is a good thing under most of them. It actually would be the biggest benefit to a channel like yours, being able to protect your uploads from bot copy. The main problem with it is actually video game content, though it hits indie music artists as well, because the networks offer the service to their partners and the claiming just happens to include content from sources that the channel operator doesn't have legal license to enforce.

IMO, ContentID should have rules that work in both directions. We already have copyright strikes, but we should also have false strikes as well. ContentID operators should bear the burden of proof where it comes to inclusion of content and if they receive too many disputes that go in favor of the channel and not the ContentID account, then they lose their account. It's only fair that punishment exist for both.

It's ridiculous to expect YT be held responsible for scamming networks.

Would you expect a phone company to be held responsible because a caller scams you ?

Or a car manufacturer to be liable because a taxi company using their products performs badly.

No difference - in a business context.

I see lots of people eager to join channels, but do they really know what the implications are? I seriously doubt it in many cases.

I get the impression many join a channel because they see it as some sort of status symbol - hey look I've finally made it !

Bad call, bad luck. You learn by your decisions and mistakes.

There is also the very likely possibility that enforcing it once, opens YouTube up to enforcing it always. Google is notorious (and with good reason) for remaining neutral where possible.

Yeah it is correct that while connecting any network Youtube clearly saying no connection

but i am surprised & wondering to see that

why youtube giving a support to a networks who is not at all qualified and spoiling youtube reputation

Youtube should think about this once because its a matter of their reputation

obviously we were join any network because youtube has approved !!!!

I don't think YT's reputation suffers at all from this situation (crappy networks).

If anything, it makes YT look very very good - they are not the ones sucking your blood, screwing you down, and giving you nothing.

Heck, they even allow you to come back later.

No, YT has played this just right, they obviously have thought it out, know the implications, and have given 100% freedom to their members to play it as they see fit.

What could be fairer than that ?
