YouTubers you watched before they blew up?

I always get on this topic with my friends and it's always so interesting to see who knew of bigger YouTubers before they got big / when they subscribed to these bigger YouTubers. I genuinely started watching YouTube videos in like 2007, so I can say that I've seen a few YouTubers rise, but the two that I hopped on the band wagon SUPER EARLY FOR were Trisha Paytas and Connor Franta.

I would watch What's in my Purse videos religiously in my basement at twelve years old and Trisha's was one of the more popular ones, and I just kept watching her videos. I found Connor Franta through his crayon melting video (because I was an artsy twelve year old) and I didn't really enjoy his content but I just had this FEELING that he was going to get famous so being the disgusting name dropper that I was, I would interact with him on all of his videos so he would remember me when he was famous because I was a skeezy child. He probably doesn't remember me because I promptly grew up.

ANYWAY I was just wondering which YouTubers you watched back in the day before YouTube was like a big thing? Be a hipster or whatever idrc I just think it's interesting haha
 
Ray William Johnson, I remember watching his videos when he was on about 50k subs thinking he'd be something special in the future... I was much too young to be listening to his p***s humour at that age as well :D
 
I can't think of a single one. In fact, if I'm watching your videos before you're popular it's probably the kiss of death for your channel.

I was far too young to be listening to half of the YouTubers that I was watching when I was 8-12 on YouTube too, haha. The only YouTuber that I knew was too inappropriate for me was Shane Dawson, and despite being fully aware of his existence, I think I watched my first Shane Dawson video at age fourteen. I also was acutely aware of RWJ's existence because I always saw the "=3" icon on people's channels and I thought it was a smiley face.

My buddy kandyrew is one o.o I'm so glad for his success. I hardly watch YT I like twitch more so I'm going to say A_seagull, I watched him at 50 viewers and now he gets 20k

I wish I could get into Twitch, I feel like if I was I would never be bored because there's always so much going on over at Twitch. That's awesome that one of your friends got pretty successful on YouTube!

The closest thing I have to a friend getting YouTube famous is that Andrew Lowe went to my rival high school, and Kalel used to live in my town. All these STL YouTubers are KILLIN' IT.
 
I remember seeing people like SuperSkarmory, Marriland and NintendoCapriSun when they had only 10-20k subs. I know SuperSkarmory doesn't do videos anymore, but I mean compared to when I first found his channel he's definitely brought in a lot more viewers and subs.
 
I've been on YouTube a long time so the YouTubers I've watched before they blew up are NigaHiga, Smosh, RWJ, Keemstar and several more that I can't remember right now. But the more recent ones are RiceGum and LeafyIsHere.

Sorry I can't say. I didn't really watch YouTube until after I started making videos myself. But maybe one of us from here will be the next rising star.

YouTube at 12? Internet or a computer in any form at 12? Or 18! I can't even imagine it!
