YouTube video has gone viral, can I gain anything from it?

You stole somebody's video and uploaded it to your own channel. The only thing you are loosing (sic) out on is a copyright strike.

It's like saying you stole somebody'painting from their house and you hung it up in your gallery and you're now complaining that nobody wants to pay you (when in reality, you'd be arrested for burglary)

(moved to the copyright forum where this belongs.......)

I don't feel that way anymore! The thread should of been closed after my last post, my questions have been answered. Cheers for the input anyway. Could you close the thread please.

Also, in regards to your analogy of a painting... If they are related... Why would I feel guilty stealing a painting and not a video?

When I grabbed the video, I didn't have any moral conniviction run through my head, as I was oblivious to the idea of what I was doing is wrong. However if I stole a painting I would be morally convicted straight away.

I think your analogy is weak, but in saying that I don't think your wrong, rather I think you are right. And I wouldn't do it again, I'm just lucky everything turned out ok, with no legal action.

All the best,
Mr FooFoo

To be honest RayWilliamJohnson steals videos all the time and profits of them. I don't think much would happen if you did profit from it, unless the guy sues you which I doubt that would happen.

Wow didn't expect people to be on both sides of this argument! Wish I could have a video go viral. Would be an awesome feeling though!
