Symph
I'm a dude with a face and I know how to use it.
Well no I'll give you that it's legally rape, he was 20 at the time so yeah legally that's what it is. I just feel like no matter how it is from a legal standpoint, I have a much stronger reaction to someone who can actually force himself on a girl who's trying to fight him off than someone who takes advantage of innocent trust, they're both horrible but if I were in his shoes I'd want to make sure people understood the distinction. I guess it's because of first off how traumatizing each thing is. Getting taken advantage of and manipulative is traumatizing yes but being straight up assaulted is a whole nother level, and then also if people start getting confused about this it makes the guy seem like he's capable of horrific violence which I don't believe he is. I feel like no matter how terrible something someone has done is, in situations like this it's important to still make sure everyone is understanding what we're really talking about.I thought about this a lot. I do think you're right. What they did may have been manipulative and awful...but was it rape? I have no idea who 'VeeOneEye' is but is he over 18? If he had sexual intercourse with a 15-year old ('consented' or not) it's still rape. There's also the question of whether or not you can actually give proper consent under the influence - which in that case still qualifies as rape.
This is all very sad.
It's like when I got "contributing to the deliquency of minors" because I let two teenage girls spend the night at my house. Was I stupid to let them crash there? Yep. Did I act negligently by letting them be around alcohol and weed? Heck yeah. But it's VERY important that people who know about this understand I did NOT touch them and I did NOT give them anything. They didn't have a sip of alcohol or a hit of weed, the most I even interacted with them was to play video games for a few minutes. But if no one clarifies this or if someone tells the story and doesn't add in that detail I just feel so upset cause I'm like "Yes what I did is contributing, yes it was idiotic, but it's NOT what it sounds like either!!" You know what I mean?
