Youtube Search Rankings

Hey'all!

So I just searched "How To Avoid Someone" on Youtube, and I found out the my video is the #16th on the list, Im just wondering how does this work, I mean what do i need to do to get higher ranking? Is it the Tags? The titles? The views?

Obviously tags etc help it show up in the relevant search, but to get higher the views need to increase (as in more per day/week etc) and the ratings would need to increase (thumbs up or down doesn't matter, it just counts the number as a whole).

That's how I believe it works.
 
Major Reason: tags
after tags I think it depends on how many likes/comments etc you are getting and at what pace?
may be that is why larger channels grow more faster

Not necessarily...

It has to do with your search and view history as well. What you see on your search is somewhat catered to what you do while on the internet so the search ranking may not be the same for others. Anyways, your video came up 12th on my search list.

Of course, putting in careful and strategic tags will definitely help bring it up the search cache.

12th? Cool! :D and... what do u mean by "careful and strategic tags", can u give some eamples? :p
 
I saw a while back that the formula had been changed not as much based on views but as audience retention. May be wrong though.

just think about a newly uploaded video
it has 0 min retention but that does not means it cannot get ranked well
Audience retention is one of the several factors but not everything :)

Yeah, I'm not sure
Like one of my videos ranked #3 beside some very popular videos while it had very few views. It was a popular enough search too.
