Youtube ruined my intro... help?!

I've noticed this happen on a couple of videos I've watched lately with the whole pixelated beginning thing. I'm sure it's just youtube. I hope they fix this soon though I just finished creating an intro. :I
 
This is going to sound really silly and so simple but when watching it online have you checked that you are watching it in HD? or are you just letting youtube chose the setting when you clicked on it?
