[YouTube Product Forum] Stolen content, and then lied on the counter copyright claim - And won too!?

Hello All,

We have a client whom uploads video compilations related to: game streamers showing the *best of* type content. The client has never had any copyrights, since he always offers to remove the content by offering his email for communications.

Recently our client noticed others copying his video and using them with Adsense so created some copyright claims instantly. The issue: those that stole his videos won the case after saying he does not in fact own the content which we are unsure about.

Theoretically the game streamers themselves own the content, so does that mean anyone can use our clients videos, and just edit the content a little but and re-upload it, this is in fact the case and I'm unsure our client can actually say he owns it.

Any advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Let me get this right - Your client stole other people's videos which were then stolen by someone else and your client filed a copyright claim?!!

That's like a thief stealing jewellery which is then stolen by someone else and then reporting the second theft to the police.

Your client doesn't have the right to anything and you should advise him to stop stealing other people's work.

Why is it becoming commonplace for people to come here when they don't hear exactly what they want to on the official Help Forum? Do they think YTTalk will soften the truth for them?
