YouTube player size Increased twice this year

So I noticed they increased the player size prior to today and it was pretty good, since I hated having to switch from smaller player to large everytime and it looked clenaer having it a little bigger and more aligned but now they've increased it in size even more:

Holy crap. lol I'm actually pretty okay with it bar the fact that now I'll HAVE to watch stuff in 720P as 480p tends to degrade a little in this size, but has this been happening to anyone else? Anyone know if it's a permanent update or just a test for them?

Well I started watching SeaNanners and in 720P it looks alright. Sadly YouTube's crappy compression is still getting in the way but it's pretty good that I can utilise more of the screen without having to go full screen.
 
I have a 600kbps internet connection. Full-screen is way out there in the future with stuff like Netflix and indoor toilets.
 
Yeah its huge now and I love it, especially seeing as I have a rather large monitor it was a nice surprise :3
 
I dunno why but I think I didn't get notifications for the previous posts but I just found today they changed it back to the normal size :/
 
I'm on a huge screen.. so... I've got like 4 play sizes before this anyways..
small, large, larger and fullscreen :')

It doesn't give me options anymore. Before the full size player it used to give me small or large. When the full size 1 came like in the picture, it didn't have an option. Now it's just showing the large player and no option to change lol I'm on a 27" though.

I'm on a 27" 1440p screen :) if you clear your cookies does it change?

actually, that could be the HTML5 player.. did you opt in for that? because you might be able to opt out.
