YouTube paying very little

Hello I read all around and was told you get around ~$2 per 1,000 views on youtube videos but I look at my analytics and say ?????? Anyone have any knowledge of why I'm getting not even close to that -.-'

Around 2$ per 1k total views was last years average earnings (at least from what i seen on my channels, and of course each month was slightly different, 2$ is just a rough calculation)
This year is hardly half of this (1$ per 1k total views), so if you read someone sharing last years info about 2$ per 1k total views, you should know that this year is less for same amount of views.

Another thing - before you start to receive hundreds of thousands views per month, i predict yours earnings per thousand views will be lower than the numbers mentioned above, because small channels gets less percent of monetized views (or in other words - less ads) and that affects total earnings.

(all what i said here is NOT a rule, but its pretty much close to the truth i believe)

And of course there may be some other possible issues, specific to your content, demographics, niche etc. etc.

I used to get ~$1 per 1,000 views (disregarding monetized or not) in 2014 but in 2015, I've been getting ~$0.30-0.40 per 1,000 views. Bad year in earnings for everyone from what I've heard.

Ok but still look at these[DOUBLEPOST=1433872533,1433872498][/DOUBLEPOST]I didn't buy any views I just shared to Reddit and Op.gg
What is your average retention rate and what types of ads are making the money? It shows the ad types below the graph on the Ad Performance page. That will explain what ad is making what money.

And is CPM what is being talked about? What is the normal Playback-Based CPM for this year?

My CPM is the same as last year - still in double digits.

No change on my channel. Earnings are up, as views are up.
