YouTube "Paid Channel" Feature?

Oh, it's limited access? I didn't know that, I figured anyone with an adsense account, or maybe a network contract, could do it. Thanks!

From what I heard so far, priority goes to channels that already have a viable paid subscription model in place-which means that they are already successful as paid channels and youtube is just another way for people to subscribe to them. The second wave will most likely be successful creators who want to branch out into paid content. It's unlikely they will open it up freely to everyone anytime soon.

That is the image (If it shows up lol) and I think the paid subscription thing only works for businesses because you will lose your views drastically if you charge for subscribing.[DOUBLEPOST=1369341447,1369341374][/DOUBLEPOST]

If you have a viable business model I think it would be unlikely that you wold get turned down. Most likely this is just to safe guard against some random person who wants to start a channel with paid subscription when he has no following.

I feel like this is a step in the wrong direction. I'm no expert but I think the reason people like youtube is because it's quick, easy and free. A small channel isn't going to get off the ground if you have to pay just to check out a video. How will they ever have a viral video? As far as big channels, if you had to subscribe to Jenna Marbles or sxephil I think people would turn away. Yeah they're fun or interesting or whatever but if I've gotta pay I'll just go somewhere else.
