youtube originality?

So hello! I've seen a lot of tips for youtubers, and pretty much everyone says that you should be original!
And i understand that, and i kinda try to!
But when it's a gaming channel i feel like ti's kinda hard to be original! I mean even Pewdiepie isn't very original (I mean he's talented as f'ck) but a lot of people do the exact same thing!

So is the tip only for non-gaming channels?? Or could someone maybe to try to explain how you do something original on a gaming channel??

when you are a gaming channel its your mission to build a fan-base not act like someone else. the games you like and the activity in the forums for that game will help build a fanbase.
 
Rhett and Link have an awesome podcast called Earbiscuits.. Pewdiepie was one of the latest people on it. The thing with Pewds is that when he started he was a small youtuber.. he found a niche of games that had only been explored by a few other youtubers and he clung to it and off he went. You need to find something that you find fun and make it fun for other people. One gaming youtuber who I think is so funny is 'Onlyusemeblade' and all he does is use a knife during most of his videos.. and he's AWESOME at it so he's entertaining to watch. Doing something you find fun and different than what others are doing will definitely help you grab an audience.
 
I think when people say "be original" what they really mean is that you should make it your own, put some of your own personality and passion into it. I've done videos where my daughters are just walking through the part step-by-step and those videos are never as interesting as when the girls are being spontaneous and themselves. Psyche yourself up for your videos and let your personality shine through and people will make a connection with you, it works!
 
I agree with the post mentioned earlier about how everyone is pretty much doing the same thing but just being yourself is going to add your own element to your videos. Just do what you want to do and your personality will shine, there's no right or wrong way really. I know what you mean though when you say that it seems like everyone is doing the same thing, even I feel like that sometimes on my channel but I think my personality really makes me different from every other Youtuber out there. I guess the best way to put it would be, be the person you would want to watch on Youtube. I hope that helps :P

You can do well on Early Access games, where there isn't a lot of coverage. Getting games that have just come out of EA on Steam, and releasing a video within a few hours of release showcasing the first 30 minutes has helped quite a few.

Try to do things others haven't done, but be yourself. Don't try to pretend or act just be yourself and people will recognize your passion for what you play.
