Well the reason why majority of top youtubers have as many subs as they do now is because of YouTubes auto-sub technique. When you create a channel a box comes up with suggestions of who to subscribe to, many are already set to subscribe. That's why the top Youtubers have a lot of dead subs. Take PewDiePie for an example. 15M subs, and gains 32k subs a day. But only gets average of 1-2M views on his videos.

So no, YouTube isn't "cheating". They are using the same technique that they implemented for other big YouTubers. If YouTube is cheating, therefor channels such as PewDiePie is cheating as well. Which he's not.

Ah, didn't know that :/ If that's the case, how did YouTube manage to overtake them?
 
I don't mind... I kind of don't count YouTube's channel, so in my mind PewDiePie is still #1... I'm not subscribed to him, though, so I don't really care what number his channel is anyways. (I love his girlfriend's channel though!)
 
It's a little bizarre because YT is in control of the featured system. They can push any video they want whether people are subscribed or not, so automating the sub on account creation seems superfluous.

It is worth noting that no channel gets anywhere near a majority of their views from subscribers or even the search rank. The vast majority of views come from the featured videos and related video content on the sidebar and after what just played.
 
I think it's kinda stupid that it pushed real hardworking youtubers down the list but it's not the worst thing ever. I'm embarrassed to say I'm a fan if pewdiepie because of the way some of his fan base reacted to this and other things. I swear at least half of them are absolute idiots.

At least half of the worlds population is below average intelligence. Some guesstimates suggest that it's more than half. ;)
 
Well they own the site they can do as the please. Hell the guy who owned myspace made everyone be his friend for god sakes lol.
