(YOUTUBE MUSICIANS) SETUP RECOMMENDATIONS????

RemiFrancisco

I've Got It
Hey everyone so I'm trying to get back into YouTube but I'm really struggle to create videos.. So my question is, mainly for YouTubers who do covers, what setups do you have and recommend for me? It's just me, myself and I at the moment ://// (SORRY IF I POSTED THIS IN THE WRONG THREAD!!)

When you say set-ups what do you mean?

For many music creators I've worked with they used MacBook or iMac with a Blue Yeti or Audio Technica microphone with a Cannon T3I+ for filming.

That's what I was referring to. Like equipment for recording their videos like cameras and recording equipment :).

I have a Canon T3i however I'm not sure if it's enough to make videos and maybe I should get recording equipment too?

The T3i should be sufficient.
Next for you would be a USB microphone or interface (depending on what your music recording needs are).
....and lighting.

Sounds good! Any recommendations? Hopefully something affordable, Blue Yeti's are crazy expensive...[DOUBLEPOST=1442245642,1442245593][/DOUBLEPOST]
Moved to Video editing, Recording, Software and Hardware for you :)

Sorry 'bout that! Thanks though! :)

Exactly what are you recording? Just vocals? No instruments anytime in the near future?
If it's ONLY vocals then yes you want that Yeti.
I use an interface with a variety of microphones, though I record mostly guitar.

It depends on what you are recording, and what range of voice you are recording. Some microphones sound better with high notes, some better with low notes, some better recording from a distance, and some better recording up close. I think string instruments sound the best with ribbon microphones recorded from a distance, but I'm no help with vocal microphones.. =/ Try watching YouTube reviews! They help give you an idea about how the different microphones will sound. Also, the "blue icicle" is a cheap way to turn an XLR microphone into a USB microphone. There is some loss in in the audio quality, but I think it does a pretty good job! (= It's important to experiment with a lot of microphones because they all have a different sound to them. Even with the most expensive microphones, you still might like the way some record sound better than others. I personally love the sound of my camera's microphone (Canon 70D), so perhaps just try the microphone of your camera. You Might like it! (=

If you are going to be mixing tracks together, you want a good interface to do that. I currently use Garage Band because it's free, but there are much better programs out there like Logic, Cubase, or Nuendo. In a pinch, I used to do my mixing in windows Movie maker, but it definitely was not ideal.. : P

I would also consider a good digital reverb plugin. ^^ Garage Band comes with one, but it's quite muddy. I like to use Play's/SoundsOnline's "Spaces" reverb plugin.

It's a bit expensive setting up everything to make a music channel...at least, I think it's more expensive compared to DIY's, and vlogs and such..x_x;;;
