It depends on what you are recording, and what range of voice you are recording. Some microphones sound better with high notes, some better with low notes, some better recording from a distance, and some better recording up close. I think string instruments sound the best with ribbon microphones recorded from a distance, but I'm no help with vocal microphones.. =/ Try watching YouTube reviews! They help give you an idea about how the different microphones will sound. Also, the "blue icicle" is a cheap way to turn an XLR microphone into a USB microphone. There is some loss in in the audio quality, but I think it does a pretty good job! (= It's important to experiment with a lot of microphones because they all have a different sound to them. Even with the most expensive microphones, you still might like the way some record sound better than others. I personally love the sound of my camera's microphone (Canon 70D), so perhaps just try the microphone of your camera. You Might like it! (=
If you are going to be mixing tracks together, you want a good interface to do that. I currently use Garage Band because it's free, but there are much better programs out there like Logic, Cubase, or Nuendo. In a pinch, I used to do my mixing in windows Movie maker, but it definitely was not ideal.. : P
I would also consider a good digital reverb plugin. ^^ Garage Band comes with one, but it's quite muddy. I like to use Play's/SoundsOnline's "Spaces" reverb plugin.
It's a bit expensive setting up everything to make a music channel...at least, I think it's more expensive compared to DIY's, and vlogs and such..x_x;;;
