Hey can someone explain to me how it works? How many views a video do you need to start making money?

yeah, any amount of views can get you money. just make your you tick the video monitization on your video and connect to google adsense, you will start making approximately 1p - 6p per view that the ad is shown.

Any amount of views will get you money, its about $1-$2 per 1000 views.
I got 24,000 views last month which made me $36 (Estimated Earnings)
