YouTube isn't making money

According to the WSJ, YouTube seems to have trouble making money for Google. The stats mentioned in the article are interesting. It seems that a major portion of people on the internet aren't watching videos on YouTube. Your thoughts?

I have a feeling this is why Google\YouTube is going overboard with changing the rules on brand deals. I think at some point if YouTube isn't going to be a way to make money, brand deals are going to be the only way and they'll end up getting no cut at all.

Hmm, Haven't heard of this, Sounds difficult to believe because of the amount of revenue that Youtube gets from advertisement has more weight then a whale. But ill check the sourcing. Just not too sure!

Major people are actually watching Youtube but probably 40 - 50% of them are using Adblock to block the ads, that's why they are having trouble making some...
That number seems way too high. You'd be surprised how many people don't even know such a thing exists, even the rather tech litterate.

They never made any profit from the start of Youtube. Every year they are recording losses. The founders of Youtube never managed to change it into a profitable platform, and the change of ownership just makes Youtube (and Google itself) steadier.

I wonder if Facebook freebooting is contributing to this. but yeah, like @paullaskovids said, I would have assumed they're making quite the pretty penny considering they make most of all creators works.

This is quite a shock as its the words number one video site.

And I was surprised that more people watch videos off other sites then youtube.

I think im shocked as I always have youtube open for over 6 hours a day on my computer or phone.
