I think you really get satisfaction out of proving everyone wrong, no matter what they say or do....
Sorry I'm not particularly active as you can probably tell now, That wasn't the purpose of my comment at all the person was right the comments are DUMB. The actual point of my comment was to suggest that maybe instead of insulting everyone who asks a question and labeling their questions are "stupid" or "dumb", why not just answer the question or move on?
I think the problem with the internet community in general is how volatile or cannibalistic it is, everyone starts out as a newer member in this community (or any community.) and most of these people are eager to learn and contribute to the community but within only a few short moments of trying to learn something by ASKING QUESTIONS they're almost instantly put down and pushed beneath people who have been in the community longer because for whatever reason they forget being in the same situation earlier on.
It's a vicious cycle because these people new to the community then become aggravated and later down the track put other new members down because they've got a false sense of entitlement just because they're more familiar with how ****** the community is and they've been there longer.
So basically Everyone who's been part of any internet community for more than a short period consciously try to put themselves above others who they believe are less experienced just to gain some form of self gratification, that guy I was responding to was displaying this very behaviour.
He believed he was above and beyond "dumb" questions like the one he was replying to, All I'm asking is that if you're not going to contribute something helpful or don't believe it's worth the time and effort DON'T PUT THE EFFORT IT, why focus energy on doing something both offensive and self-destructive it's a waste of everyone's time.[DOUBLEPOST=1396105421,1396105017][/DOUBLEPOST]
I do Youtube because I LOVE to entertain people, but I'm not going to lie either and say that I don't want income from it.
If you have something you're passionate about and have a chance to monetize it, why not?
I already knew coming in that success is definitely *not* going to be a overnight thing, and I admit that I have my bouts of discouragement whenever I get flamed or have low view counts/lose subscribers.
If people truly have the desire to be on youtube, then they will work on being entertaining, be comfortable in front of the camera, AND be prepared to endure the harshness of trolls and flaming. It's the people who have too soft of skin who don't make it out there.
So yeah, youtube isn't for everyone.
What about the youtubers who don't sit in front of a camera every video, what if they believe what they're offering straight up is already entertaining.
The value of art or the quality/qualities of art is not decide by ANY single person, not even the artist. The value of art is decided over and over again by EACH AND EVERY individual who views it, what you might not perceive as entertaining might provide another with ultimate joy or even sometimes strong feelings of sorrow (which can sometimes be a beautiful thing sometimes.)[DOUBLEPOST=1396106960][/DOUBLEPOST]
I think thats questionable about everyone being able to do it. Like there are some people who have been Youtub'in it for near enough to 3-5 years and would only gain a mere 40 subs....which to me kind of shows what is going down...
SUBSCRIBERS are not a reflection of quality, they're a reflection of either how well something was marketed or how active users who viewed were.
It all depends on the viewers and how they react to something, sometimes the reason things don't gain popularity is because THE RIGHT PEOPLE AREN'T FINDING IT but there is always something you can bank on, no matter what you make it's likely that there'll be SOME PEOPLE OUT THERE that will have what they perceive as a positive reaction to the material (even if it makes them sad, it's the reaction they were looking for.)
So no these people have not necessarily failed and the reason they're not getting subscribers (which isn't even necessarily the ultimate goal.) isn't because they're releasing inferior content, it's either just not appealing to the audience it's getting to OR it's been lost in the vast infinity or mysterious vortex that claims an untold number of other things on youtube.
I'll give you an example, Funeral doom metal band "ahab" does not appeal to everyone but they arguably have one of the MOST DEDICATED fan bases I've seen and although the band doesn't necessarily have a large number of record sales or internet viewers they've got a surprisingly large number of people who at least have heard of the band because of this dedicated fan base.
So my point is the number of subscribers or sales you get does NOT reflect the quality, all forms of art can be considered of equal quality (unless you've got an equation to prove otherwise.) but what one gains from art is up to the individual NOT ONE PERSON WHO BELIEVE'S THEY'RE THE ULTIMATE AUTHORITY ON WHAT'S GOOD AND WHAT'S NOT.
