YouTube IS promoting smaller channels

I wish they'd level out the playing field a bit more and whilst this is not the biggest thing they could do, I'm all for it! Tailoring it to the persons interests might be better but its still pretty exciting :)

I don't think I have that section, weird stuff, although mentioning pewdiepie, I havent seen a vid of his in related or main page in over a month now. maybe they finally realised what kind of videos I watch, xD
 
Usually youtube is recommending popular channels to me (over and over again even after I click the "not interested" option) but I haven't yet seen a small account (or if I have I don't remember).
I think youtube should be promoting small channels anyway seeing as that would be a way to discover new youtubers. The popular channels are just that. Popular. So we've most likely already heard of or seen them, unlike the small channels.
I wonder if there could be a petition for them to have a "new youtubers" tab xD
 
They track what you watch on YouTube and tailor the results to it. So I have been watching a lot of gun videos, so every other video and channel that gets recommended is one with guns. It's a smart way to get you to "consume" more. The more chances YouTube gets to play an add for you the better it is. It's not so much them looking out for smaller channels. It's them looking out for their pocket book.

I have had a video be called "official" before. That gave me a huge bump in views. So they do promote smaller channels. But don't for a second think you'll end up being featured site wide... That is reserved for the high rollers. The ones YouTube makes millions from.
