Youtube is dumb.

I think you're dealing with some immature people is all. I don't expect everyone to be interested, or even supportive, but they don't have to be critical. Don't let yourself be treated that way.

And, some day you can show them an earnings statement...that usually shuts them up.

If that's how you friends react to you doing something you have fun doing then I would be questioning who are your true friends. Friends are there to support one another not mock eachother.
 
Luckily everyone that knows I do it know what im doing and dont really care I mean they support but its not unusual, dumb or stupid in their eyes because most if not all of the people I hang out with are all my generation/age. Its only when it came to my mom and dad they said the same thing "just what is the point" luckily I dont have to listen to it because I live on my own but yeah for the younger generation we can understand as for the older...no...

I try to cut them out of my life or basically just let them continue thinking that I think of them as a "friend". I prefer to avoid unnecessary conflict over something like this, hence why I always try to take a stealthy approach in video games. I don't need fake people who won't support me, nor does anyone. But I'd say work with it as much as you can. If you have family & friends who try to jump into your videos to mock you, put it up lol viewers might comment on it, they'll either enjoy it or even make fun of the people mocking you and you can then interact with viewers about it, like some juicy gossip or something xD
 
Association breeds similarity. If you associate with these kinds of people you're going to find yourself relating to these opinions to a certain degree. You'll at least give them more credit than they're due.

I talked to one of the people about this and he said he didn't even realize what he was doing, he was just kind of speaking without thinking it might make me feel bad. He said he didn't think what I was doing was stupid, he just didn't understand it. He's also so used to making fun of people who take "selfies" that he felt like it was the same thing when I was talking to the camera. But he apologized and said he will think before he speaks from now on.

So.....yay! Progress!

What a great point here! Vlogging is just that! A diary for the modern age..where..well anyone has the opportunity to "read" what you have to say on any particular day! Hold on to the thought that this is for you. Not for the people who think it is dumb! Something you can look back on and reflect. Hang in there! This community is a great one to fall back on when you are feeling low and need someone to help you back up! For every person who calls it dumb, I bet you will find two who will say its great and to keep going forward!:woot2:
