Animation Yey!
inspired by @Cam Kirkham 's thread about dislikes, I've thought of an idea for youtube.
giving feedback/critiques is super helpful, but I feel that those well written comments seem out of place in the comment section. now imagine this:
- A section called Feedback or Critiques, where you click on comments, there's a side button for these, and you can switch between comments and feedback.
- when a person uses this to give feedback, they are given rating stars for different main things like presentation, audio, content etc. where they can give a star rating out of 5 (and can do halves).
It gives them a place to neatly put their thoughts and feedback.
- The creator/youtuber gets the option to make these feedback sections available or not, and on which video's they would like. they can also set these to private only, where only they will see the feedback.
- This whole idea can also have it's own section in analytics. you can put the star ratings together and see where your videos have the lowest ratings and in what catagory. God bad audio? that will be evident when people review and lowly rate that section. want to see what they say? click on your 'audio feedback rating' and it will show you a list of only the part of the feedbacks' that is in the audio section. handy right?
now the problem is, the people writing the feedback's reviews, critiques, (whatever you want to call it) don't get anything out of it. I'm not sure how i could fix that, maybe people who view the section can thumbs up the feedback's they think are right and they agree with, and those will be spotlighted on the top like comments are.
if this was ever implemented it would take a ton of work on youtube's part, and though trolls will still use it to be pains, you could set it to approved only show, or private, and will get less rubbish.
This would seperate dislikes from people that just dislike for no reason, and those that want to give their reasoning without worrying about getting a ton of hate replies, and getting popped int he spam section.
It reminds me of the old days of youtube when we had ratings, but those were abused to heck because they affected your video, these are more hidden analytics things that are made to help you improve, let me know what you think? or what you would do instead?
