YouTube for a living

I've Got It
I'm a small youtuber with aspirations to grow into a big one and expand to different channel and all that good jazz. However I'm curious as to how do youtuber with 100 thousand plus subscribers and thousands of views are living off of their channel alone? Is there a certain mark you hit to ensure you can live off it? Cause I watch some vloggers my age living on their own with of course no traditional job living life I assume off of YouTube.

They just got lucky, that's what it looks like to me. But the cost is stability of income since YouTube can change their terms at any given time and screw you over in that department.

Alot of YouTubers don't solely live off of YouTube Add Revenue, but also Add Revenue through other social media channels. Certain niches also earn alot through affililiate marketing and earn/save money through sponsors.

regular sponsorships are what currently support most big youtubers. really, the "cut off" is whether your monthly views could pay for your rent, food and wi-fi cx

It might get harder now, as the ad boycott has happened.
It might happen that they have supporters on Patreon as well as having Adsense. People might even do sponsorships, like Loot Crate and Audible!

I wouldn´t get sponsorships though, as I have a full time job!

It's a lot more than what they show you - you have to market yourself, get sponsorships, crowdfunding sources. Selling merch I see a lot of people do but it's rare that a YouTuber just makes money off of ad revenue and can live a comfortable life. You could probably reach out to people to get sponsorships if you're small but honestly I see people making money off of marketing themselves and their products more than just youtubing.

Most youtubers have sponsors + they sell merch and get some money out of it as well. Which for me that sounds excellent but now days to reach that point will take years or simply be lucky. Cause as how I see it you need to be super lucky in order to reach high enough

They get more views an hour than most on this forum get in their lives. That's one. Past that people send them free money online or they get paid sponsorship. Some sell shirts, write books, make dvds of the same videos they have on YouTube. Some put their face on hot sauce and try to sell that.

Many, many factors go into being able to do YouTube for a living. The main one is, of course, luck. There are channels who churn out terrific content in and out on a regular basis and go nowhere, and those that take off immediately for no discernible reason.

All you can do is read up and practice every strategy you can get your hands on, see what's working and what's not, and apply the lessons to your channel.

YouTube is still basically an entrepreneurial career in the arts, which is super-difficult to get in any way. It's not impossible, but it's definitely not something most people are going to be able to get and maintain with a moderate amount of effort. You can't say the same for most career paths, so it's up to you if you want to dedicate your time and effort toward trying to make it happen, knowing the odds for and against you.

Some youtubers also have a twitch account where they can have money donated to them when they livestream
