YTtalk Mad
Have you ever been to a YouTube event such as VidCon, or Playlist Live?
Or do you want to go to one?

Tell us your experiences & thoughts on these events and let's discuss.

Id love to go but I probably wouldn't go to the meet ups or anything like that
Mainly for the travel and the experience of something new
I've never been so definitely will go to one some time

Went to SummerintheCity in London. It was quite good, especially because I was a creator. In basics:
I had a great and friendly experience seeing the youtubers, attending panels and getting to talk to some of the friendly ones (Cian the cameraman who is more of a popular camera-worker than a youtuber was particularly nice). I made some good new friends and networked with other youtubers my size. The only downside was the HUUUGE lines to get into the venue and some of the extremely loud fangirls.

In detail:
I decided to try and arrive 3 hours before the venue opened. The line reached all the way around the building. I decided not to go in and instead get something to drink and eat rather than spend money on expensive food inside.

When I got back, the line was even longer. So I decided to try and find a way to get inside as a volunteer to skip the cues (sneaky I know). Ended up failing as they weren't accepting any volunteers. Instead I got chatting to one of the security guys guarding the back gate where some of the popular youtubers where going in. I did this so I could waste time as the line eventually went down so I could get in without much of a wait (took about 1 hr 30 mins)
The guy was nice and eventually a volunteer with a VIP list of youtubers who were to be allowed past came. I got chatting to her and eventually made friends with her. The security guy, the volunteer and I also had a laugh and the screaming fangirls as the youtubers arrived on foot or sometimes even in a car.

Eventually the volunteer went back inside and I went through the front. I ended up meeting her and a couple of her friends and from that we went to different panels, socialised with people and listened to some awesome music.
After the long concerts of different bands a majority of the youtubers and the other convention attendees moved away to the bars surrounding the venue. Had a great time socializing there and ended up having a great time overall. So much so I'm going this year as well with the rest of my friends I met at the convention.

Going to Vidcon this year on an Industry ticket, wouldn't be that great on the standard one imo especially with that ticket costing 150$ for really just being able to go in and line up or check out some stalls & that a ticket to a LA from europe is like €1000 so :p need to actually justify going over there..

On a side note I was interested in going to You-Live (since SitC was booked out) but then I saw recently that pretty much every big youtuber that was going dropped out, leaving all the 100s of attendees that paid to hunt for refunds..

Don't think I'll ever get to vidcon since it is a 1000 euro flight! Then the ticket, then accommodation
But I'll probably go to SitC next year if I can save up for it

I don't like the Idea of those kinds of events. Never appealed to me. Especially with the screaming fan girls and guys who turn into screaming fan girls. I don't mind meeting particular YouTubers who show up at other events like ComicCon or other Gaming expo's but Events specifically for YouTubers? Neh, I'll pass.

I was going to VidCon last year, I had the ticket booked, travel, accommodation booked etc (I was already going to be in America on holiday, just happened my Mum had booked with vidcon in the middle of the holiday, so I was like... I wanna go LOL!)

But then I got taken really ill and ended up in hospital, so I couldn't go :( boo! Didn't even get my holiday which was a late 21st birthday present :( ha.

But I'll get there one year... maybe...hopefully!
