YouTube consider commenters with high sub counts "Important"

Super Poster
So I have the creator studio app, which allows me to see my analytics, reply to comments etc on my cell phone. Super. Cool.

Recently, I've gotten a couple notifications on my phone about specific comments. This is weird because I get many many comments, but only 3 gave me a push notification.

So I look at my settings, which are set to "Get notifications for important comments", so I look back at the 3 commenters. They each have 12.5K, 14K and 35.6K subscribers.

..does this mean that youtube's definition of "important" comments = comments from people with high subscriber counts?

Is YouTube trying to push me to reply to them, in the hopes that it will boost my channel?

Thoughts?

YouTube does filter by popularity among other filters, you used to be able to choose whether to allow filter by subscriber count but I can't seem to find it in my comments settings anymore.

How many likes did their comments have? That is probably one of the bigger influencing factors. Keep in mind, if that is the case, people with higher sub counts are more likely going to get top comments purely due to subscriber bleed and the likes.

You've forgotten that in channel settings you have a setting to rank comments from popular people higher. There you can set a number of subs, and if a commenter has enough subs, their comment is boosted. Something like 500+ subs by default, if I'm not wrong xD

Good luck Ellelle :)

I've seen top comments that belong to small channels. While no doubt major ones tend to steal the spotlight, witty or punny ones are also included.

Top comments are custom made for each person viewing the comments.

Meaning , each one of us watching the same video can see a different comment as the top comment. Things such as who you are subscribed to and who is in your g+ circles affect this among other things.

I get push notifications for all replies to my YouTube videos, sometimes there are a lot, other times not so much. I never got special notifications when bigger YouTubers reply on my content.

how do you turn this on? i found out yesterday one of my favourite youtubers had commented on a video of mine half a year ago, and i never realised :'( I'm subbed to them too!

by notifications do you mean email?

I always put an effort into replying to famous/popular YouTubers. Jaclyn Glen commented on one of my videos and it really spiked in popularity. I still have less than 500 subs though, so maybe it isn't that helpful... LOL. Still exciting!

I dont know but i gotta a comment on one of my videos telling me to go check out their channel and the app said to let the comment post on my video or dont the other channel dont got that much subscribers tho
