YouTube commenting do and donts

HeyJayBay

I've Got It
When commenting on a YouTube video
DO compliment the creator
DO tell them you subscribed because you loved their content

DONT ask them to check out your channel but say nothing about their video
DONT ask them to subscribe
DONT promote your own channel
DONT tell them you subscribed and would they please return the favor

DO ask POLITELY if they might check out your channel
DONT promote your own channel
Isn't that kinda the same? It gives off the vibe that you're only trying to do sub4sub. And I've noticed that any comment with "check out my..." lands in the spam folder straight away. Polite spamming is still spamming ;)

ETA: Okay the original post was changed...

True. It's still promoting. But I'm much more willing to check out someone's channel when they ask if I might check them out vs them saying hey check out my channel and subscribe!!

Anyone who leaves comments on people's videos and asks them to check out their channel (not matter how politely) shouldn't be surprised if they end up getting trolled and hated on.

I have to disagree with asking people to check out you channel, sure it can bring that person to your channel but it breeds sub4subs. I asked people to come to my channel for two days to see how well it worked, it ended with three weeks of people coming and asking me to sub to them some of which had subbed to me and other who didn't. One person in particular asked me to subscribe to them and that if I was active on his channel he'd sub to me, this definitely isn't how you go about doing it. From my own experience if you want people to discover your channel just share it to as many places as you can, asking in comments can attract a lot of unwanted attention!

Ok guys forget I said that. This is my personal opinion.
K thanks
Nothing wrong with saying what you think. But others will do the same :)

The problem with mentioning your own videos/channel at all is that nowadays there are soooo many "creators" who will say anything nice for the sole purpose of getting you on their channel. It's hard to take those comments seriously.

I mean I think it depends on the context... I've done a response video and went on another person who did another response video. I made a comment about how hers was recommended on my video and that I liked what she had to say about it. She checked out my page and liked my video and subbed. So there are circumstances where it can be ok.

Exactly. THANK YOU
