YouTube as a career?

You can certainly do YouTube as a full time career. I am also pursuing that dream, I once read a thread that now is the time to start working hard on a YouTube channel if you want to turn it into a career.

Have you ever thought about doing YouTube for a career? I have from day one. Now I don't like reading people's comments saying that its not good to think this way. I do agree though that you need to have fun in order to enjoy your career. So whats wrong with doing it for a career if you genuinely like doing it? I do agree though you can't expect it to become a career but it sure can if you stay motivated and dedicated!

What are your thought?

You can enjoy it and have fun.. and also go into it for a career exactly like you said if you work hard and put the effort in.. of course you can make it a career and earn from it.. Ideally you do something you love and want to do on YouTube as well as earning! Maybe when they say it's not good to think that way, I can understand if all you have is money in your mind your content will probably not turn out as good but I think that all depends on who you are.. what content your giving and how much effort you put in. Use YouTube for what you wish.. but ideally if you can enjoy it and be yourself then that's a big bonus!

My ultimate dream is to be able to make a living by doing this.
And I'm confident that one day, I will. Probably not tomorrow, probably not the next 5 years but one day.

Yeah I honestly think now or never. It's becoming to big and getting even harder to get recongnized but if we try now there is a very good chance we will make it.

I don't have a channel up and running yet, but realistically, it is tough to get big on YT. For starters I am doing this purely because I love music! I am a huge fan and just want a place to share my thoughts. Could it become a career? Maybe, if I stick to it! But I just love what I am doing and want to share it with the world.

You can't just start YouTube and say "I am going to do this as a career"

It grows into a career. But for the vast majority is will never go beyond the hobby level. I have been a serious YouTuber for over 3 years and have "only" 3.6K subscribers and 705K lifetime views to show for it. If I did it to make a career out of it I would have quit a long time ago. It still costs more than it brings in. Do I wish I would turn into something more significant? Absolutely! I see myself doing this for LIFE! But it isn't something that is needed to have fun. I enjoy the creative process and get awesome comments all the time. That is why I do it. A bigger subscriber base (and the subsequent view level) would open doors and allow me to push myself to new heights. I am exited for the future, but am completely content if it doesn't change from were I am at right now.
