Youtube Analytics; What do you go through?

Hello everyone!

I was wondering how you all use the analytics part of your channel? What are stats you look at and do you keep track of certain stats in an excel like document?

How frequent do you check out the reports?

I just glance over them every now and then. Theres so much information I'm not sure what part to use and what part to glance over, so I give it all a glance to be honest. I imagine average viewing time together with views and subscribers is more important. But what are some nice less known statistics to keep an eye on.

I mainly use them to check activity on past videos to see if there's particular topics I should cover in more depth. Other than that activity over the past month in general but I'm not overall focused on them. Found it interesting that the majority of my audience are American males!

Earnings first, then views. I also check relative audience retention. Occasionally subs but for the most part I let that take care of itself.

First I look for the views. and the watch minutes for the particular video. and also for the earning.

I generally just check for views and subs.

And the odd look at retention and where the views are coming from :)

1. 30 days views line chart
2. 30 days views multiple line chart
3. Newest day line chart
4. Clicking on videos that got more views then normally and checking its traffic source
5. Checking the Realtime
6. Doing loads of random comparisons and pretending as if I would be on a press conference where journalists ask questions about my channel growths.

I usually check traffic and traffic sources. If I know where people are coming from, I know which marketing strategy worked (and which one didn't). Then I try to learn from that.
