Youtube Ad Campaigns.

I'd never bother with a Facebook campaign because I'm not selling anything. Ad campaigns for YouTubers are best served IMO to try to get subscribers. Advertising on Facebook just introduces another separation in the likelihood that the viewer doesn't have a YouTube account which defeats the purpose.
Yeah I completely agree...like I said, I did it to push a local business I run. That's not to say that I haven't tried to figure out a way to drive meaningful traffic from Facebook at a penny a click, I just haven't been able to come up with anything and I doubt I will in the future. It doesn't seem like a good media for Youtube promotion.

What I'd really like to see is Facebook sharing revenue from video ads. I think they are working in that direction and if and when that happens it will be a game changer. This is going to sound very far fetched, but I think if Facebook plays its cards right it can effectively end Youtube. Everyone loves a one stop shop, and both Google and Facebook know that. Google tried to be Facebook (G+) and failed miserably. I don't think Facebook will fail while trying to be Youtube.

I tried it with $100 and results were s****y. But the main problem for me was that AdWords doesn't allow you to use "bad language" in your ads. So it was super hard for me to create a good ad of my comedy channel.

I'd make a new thread, but this one was just created.

I've been using Adwords to boost the views of new videos I put up for the first day. I got a call from a woman at Adwords today while I was at work. She wanted to help me to make the most effective use of Adwords and thinks that my channel could really blow up if done right. She wants to place ads on all their partner sites and to make sure that all the views generated by Adwords are candidates to be monetized views for me. I don't know how much of it is just lip service, but she claimed to really like my videos and to have watched some of them several times. We had about an hour conversation, at least half of it talking about my content and she seemed very interested and impressed in my process for making them. She's going to call me back on Wednesday when she has gone over some things. I'll post back with any useful information I find.

I agree with her. I don't know about to what extent it could blow up, but the thing is, it has viral video potential. "The Wizard of Oz" would be great, for example (this is an official request) the Lollipop kids song (0:34 seconds) I think would be awesome in a horror version. Creepy midgets in inverse filter...creepy filtered music....and it will have mass appeal. Hopefully you can do it.
But yeah, if the 'parody' aspect of it is getting you around copyright/content ID issues, you can do anything in a horror version including new songs and whatnot. Unless I'm missing something and you have to be more careful with that kind of thing than I think you do.

Consider that request fulfilled, kind sir! Actually, that is one of the earliest songs I ever considered doing and I don't know why I never got around to doing it. That and the "Wonderful Land of Oz" song when they are being shown around the Emerald City. I'm also working with @Squeal Cat on a collaboration video where he'll do his normal thing and I "horrorize" it. But that has nothing to do with Oz. I'm just also mentioning it.

The Google lady believes my videos fall under parody and fair use and she was surprised, but not really surprised to find that companies (Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment) had blocked some of mine worldwide. She seemed to think that was pretty ridiculous, but since her specialty obviously isn't that area (I had to explain to her what happens to my monetization when a company claims it), she suggested against trying to dispute things for now until I could be absolutely sure.

Just be careful...her primary interest is getting more revenue to more accounts. Secondly she may or may not be concerned with the possibility of you getting copyright strikes. I've spoken to Adwords support on a number of occasions and they know absolutely nothing about Youtube really for the most part, especially with regard to things like fair use and/or copyright strikes. Just be careful and don't take anything the Adwords people say about copyright situations at face value.

Good luck with the Oz video! I predict millions of views!

Were you thinking just the lollipop guild portion of the song, specifically excluding the rest, or did you mean the whole song that included that portion? I was thinking of having it be normal as she walked through the doorway to Oz and then it changing to inverted once it becomes color. And maybe only her voice normal the whole time. Or her voice could be normal until she enters Oz to signify she is now under its influence.

Well, it's your channel, but I would have started it right at the lollipop kids song and run it through the 'we welcome you to munchkin land' song since I think that will be the creepiest part to use and it might prevent the loss of any viewers who might bail right away if they don't realize what's coming (if they see the regular non-inverted part first). But you have more experience with it so do whatever you feel will get you the most views. Also, there won't be a higher risk of content ID if you have some of the original video in there?

Yeah, it will definitely be caught by Contend-ID if I do that. It happened with my Willy Wonka video. And viewers bailing if they don't know what to expect is definitely something I've considered but haven't really tested to find how often it happens. I may have more experience with my style of videos, but you have more with making videos and retaining viewers, so I think in this case you have a better idea of what would work. I'll probably do what you suggested.

Oh yeah. Adwords!
