YouTube - A sweatshop?

Maybe her growth also halted because she focused too much on maintaining 5 channels! Sure, it's spreading out and diversifying but also catering different audiences.
I doubt that was it, she never had a giant growth or anything like that. I went to her channel yesterday and went "Is that it?!" she has barely grown in 2 years or more.

On a side note, on her About page, it shows the following information. Does this mean anything other than her channels are connected to one Adsense account? Or, what exactly does it mean?
Doesn't it just mean that probably all of her channels - including a mysterious sixth one - are all in one network, which most likely is connected to ONE ad account. I've seen these stats before on other channels. Maybe it only shows up on the main account where all others are connected to.

Well yeah she does seem to be following a shotgun strategy of upload as many videos as she can and hoping some stick. On the gaming channel that was linked in the article (I didn't look at the others), she has over 1000 videos uploaded, but "only" about 9k daily views. So a daily average of about 9 views per video which isn't much for a channel that size. But hey, in absolute terms, it's clearly working for her.

I still haven't looked too closely at the channels but was wondering a similar thing. What if 20% of her videos generate 80% of the revenue/views? Suddenly it would still be around 90k but "only" 4 videos a week. The gaming channel definitely seems to inflate that number.

While it does sound like a lot of videos eventually pumping out videos becomes second nature. At first I found a single video would take me hours upon hours. But as time goes on you find yourself finding shortcuts while maintaining quality and getting more proficient at what your doing. With how long she has been doing it I dont think it takes her very long...

That's 2 and a half videos a day!

The half can be calculated, such as uploading a "Part 1" video or something. But.. 20 videos a day is bit of an exaggeration. 80% of BIG channels upload once a day.
Yeah but the 20 videos is spanning four channels including a gaming and daily vlogs channels. Quite a lot of people that post one video on one channel a week have other personal/gaming channels. E.g. smosh in which Ian, Anthony, Mari and presumably the other smosh gamers have personal channels and the smoshgames channel which uploads daily.

That is an interesting perception. I would not be surprised if gaming channels uploaded a video every day especially if they just play a game without a lot of editing.

But I don't get the feeling that is the general rule of all of the big channels. I know that @Wreckless Eating has a frequent upload schedule. I wonder what his thoughts are.

I didn't mean it like that. But you've gotta think, 80% could be an accurate amount if you consider how many large channels there are on YouTube.

The rush to judgement on Olga Kay here is amazing and sad at the same time. It seems like most of you are dishing out advice to someone who has a collective 1 million subscribers across her channels. It's obvious she knows exactly what she's doing. And for those who question her upload schedule-if there was a magic formula or ideal upload schedule, we'd all adhere to that. There isn't. Every channel has a different strategy and what she does obviously works for her. We happen to upload 21 videos per week across our two channels, which is 1 more video that she does per week and I doubt if anyone here thinks that we're doing a bad job with our channel. Take a hard look at the numbers before you rush to judgement. Someone mentioned that she has barely grown in 2 years. Her main channel has grown by nearly 300k subs in 2 years, which is more than anyone on this forum if you don't count the non-existent iJustine.
