Youtube 144p video quality

I just read an article where Youtube has been adding a 144p video quality option to videos. I've only seen it on one video so far. I just wonder how bad does your internet have to be, to where you have to use 144p video quality.

I'm sure there are some really far out places or countries that could use it (heck there are places in England that still use 56k dial up), but 144? That would just look like a pixellated mess wouldn't it?

I dunno if its just cause I'm used to 720/1080, but for me even 480 looks and sounds pretty low, imagine about a quarter of that :|

if the audio isnt to compressed, this may be a welcome setting for podcasts that are strictly audio, or for those music only "videos" that just have a pic while the song is playing. or it could be what it sounds like what it is intended for... a new option for mobile devices to stream the content with very limited bandwidth or slow to bad connections. I doubt this is an option a home user would want, as their connections "SHOULD" be ok to begin with.

Its a mess, not to mention it doesn't play sound xD[DOUBLEPOST=1365358902,1365358864][/DOUBLEPOST]I know the new Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon trailer has the 144p option. So there's an example for anyone looking for one.
