Your Thoughts on YouTube Rewind 2018?

I wouldn’t watch it anyway probably for the same reason the 2.5 million people disliked it. No one wants to see someone else parading around rubbing it in about how great and lucky they are (and by reasoning you therefore are not)

Fair! I can see how that would put a bad taste in a viewers mouth, especially if said viewer is also a content creator.

Okay, I watched it and oh boy.

1. Will Smith? What? I mean, it's cool, but come on, he's not a YT content creator. They could have had the Queen of England on the same grounds.
2. Too too too many Fortnite references. It felt like a commercial.
3. Too many people. In a way, I like the concept, promoting more people, but in the end, you'll just have YT users scratching their heads and saying: "Who on earth is this guy?"
4. The cringe middle part... Oh man. Don't flat out say 'Asians get more representation' - just do it, like you did in the video itself, with mukbang. When you say it out loud, it feels like that horrid 'subscribe to black creators' Tweet.
5. Simone was a perfect finishing touch for the cringe train, because she did a lot to dilute that cringe. It felt really sweet and genuine, as opposed to majority of the middle section.
6. They should not have spoken about the mental health. I seriously can't and don't believe that they put that in.
7. Will Smith looking through binoculars is perfect for meming.

Too much breaks between the music to show the guys camping. Too agenda-pushing near the end.

See, I'm all for equality, but people gotta learn to just do it and not boast about it. Make a movie with a strong female lead, or a positive gay role model, or a Hispanic lead or what-have-you but don't make thousands of articles make such a big deal about it. Just do it.
