Your softwares for making YT videos

I use Filmorama for editing (but I used to/still occasionally use Adobe Premiere Elements 9), Adobe photoshop cc for thumbnails, audacity for audio when doing voice overs, and Fraps when I’m doing a screen record. I too got the student discount version of adobe suite so if you’re a student, or have a student email, I’d definitely check it out.

My set:

Video Editor - Sony Vegas (ashamed to admit, mine is a cracked version)
Recording - Loom (super easy to use! love it - and it's free)
Thumbnails - Adobe Photoshop
For fixing unplayable videos (e.g. from my GoPro camera with faulty SD) - "Restore.Media" online service

I started with Movie Maker, went on with GoPro Studio and now I am doing everyting (even creating Thumbnails with a lot of layers)
with Premiere CC 2018. Since the CC Update it is really worth the money (as a Student about 18 Euro a month for the whole package).

Recording: NVIDIA Shadowplay
Editing: Sony Vegas Pro 16 and Adobe After Effects CC 2017
Photo Editor: Affinity Photo (like it more then Adobe Photoshop)
